About us at Herpaintology:

Welcome and thank you for taking the time to find out a bit about my business. My name is Jessica Tschampa. I have been a longtime lover of creating artwork and all things herpetology. I finally found the opportunity to bring both together.

This fledgling business has been a great experience so far and the people I have met through it make it even more awesome. I want to thank everyone who has taken some time to learn a bit about me and what I have been painting. You guys make my efforts worth while!

So what do I do here?

I love to paint. I've seriously pursued developing my skills in painter when I started High School. When I felt confident in my skills I started taking a few orders here and there for custom paintings. I started dreaming of becoming a professional painter. But even I understood I can't make an easy living as an artist, so commissioned work took a back seat to my education. I graduated early with a B.S. in Biology from Eastern Illinois University. I still dreamed of trying my hand at being a professional painter, so I took that extra time before grad school and built the foundation for Herpaintology! I am now a first year Master's candidate in Clinical Laboratory Science. It's an odd mix, isn't it? Science and artwork. But some how it seems to work.

So why do I do this?

I don't make a whole lot of money as an artist, but I'm hoping to make enough to pay for a few lunches and the commute to grad school. So take a look around the store, buy some things for the special herpers in your life, or for yourself. I also can be hired on commission. So if you have a special herp in your life that you would like to immortalize in paint, drop me an email! I love working with owners to give them a quality piece of artwork that can be cherished for many many many years, even long after their companions have moved on.

So how can you help?

Hire me, buy artwork from me, visit me at any number of reptile shows around Chicagoland. On the homepage I make a point to let you know where I will be next, so check in from time to time. I'm not scary, I won't bite, drop me an email and say hi, feel free to ask about getting a unique and commissioned piece, and always look around you might see something you like ;)
